Great response!

I've had tremendous response to my request for testers for my Moebius scarf. I'm so excited that so many people are interested in it! I sent out the PDF file of it today, so hopefully I'll start getting some feedback soon. I'm fairly confident about my instruction writing skills, but it's always a good thing to get different people to try to follow them.

I've got 25 people testing my pattern as of this evening, so I'm pretty excited about that. Hopefully people won't want to hunt me down and beat me with their knitting needles by the time they've completed their scarves.....

Progress bars!!!

I CAN follow instructions after all! I went to http://knitticisms.blogspot.com/2005/04/how-to-those-nifty-progress-bars.html and was able to put those cool progress bars on my blog! I even made a little bar that matches the template I chose. I'm quite pleased with myself.

Of course, I didn't include ALL the projects I haven't finished--the page would go on and on...I figure I have 17 unfinished quilt projects right now, which is down from 26+. Then there are the beading projects, and the crochet squares from an exchange that I have to put together (but I need to make a few more squares before I do), and the two hooked rugs I have to finish, and the things languishing in drawers and boxes that I haven't looked at since we moved from Southern Utah....

Now if only I had 72 hours in a day and no house cleaning, errands, etc. I might stand a chance of getting half of them done. Not!! That would just mean more time to start more projects. ;-)

FO -- 2nd Moebius scarf and instructions!!

Woo hoo!! I finished another Moebius neck ring, and managed to hammer out a pattern. Now I just need to make a third one while disengaging my brain and following the pattern—that's the first round of testing for my quilt patterns, then they go off to my victims. Uh, I mean testers.

Not having any knitting testers yet, I'm looking for a few people who wouldn't mind trying this pattern. If you're interested, let me know.

I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease in White Frost for this scarf and if my gauge hadn't loosened up it would've taken one skein. That being said, it took roughly 192 yards, which is the size of a regular skein of Wool-Ease but not in the frosts, which are 162 yards. But it was still under $5 for two skeins.

I haven't blocked either neck ring yet, and they still look pretty good if I do say so myself. The blue neck ring (see previous post below) is one continuous piece of yarn--I didn't have to weave in any ends but the first and last stitches. The white frost one I ended up weaving more than twelve ends in, but that was mostly because I wasn't paying attention and cut the yarn too soon, and I gave up on untangling some knots and just cut the yarn. I've just spent too much time lately untangling yarn after my kids get to it! They sure do have a good time winding it all over the house. Literally.

Did you know that a spool of thread can go from my sewing room all the way across the house to the kitchen, and back, and still have plenty of thread to tangle around my table back in the sewing room and have still more left on the spool? I hadn't realized that until my kids so generously decided to demonstrate. At least I didn't feel bad about just cutting it off and throwing away a giant ball of thread.

And just so you don't feel deprived of pictures of my "little angels," here is a recent one. (I know you secretly wanted to see what these two unwinders of thread and knotters of yarn look like). My DD is wearing part of her Halloween costume from the year before last, which she would NOT wear at Halloween. I'd had her try it on as I was making it and she pronounced it "itchy" and refused to wear it again. She was especially proud that she paired the shoes with the dress and has recently decided that it doesn't itch any more. It better not--I spent HOURS hand-sewing twill tape over all the inside seams so the glittery fabric didn't itch her tender underarms. :-) I still had to bribe her to model it for me for a picture that Halloween, and she cried the whole time anyway. I have a wonderful picture of the world's saddest princess. ;-)

DD is 4 and DS is 18 months, in case you were wondering.

knitting guild in Tulsa

Last night I went to the Tulsa knitting guild meeting. What fun!! There were a bunch of very nice ladies doing very inspiring things! I love seeing all the different styles of projects everyone was working on. I felt very welcomed, and almost everyone there made it a point to come say "Hi" and introduce themselves. Not that I'll actually manage to remember everyone's names....

I showed the moebius band I made, and I've decided to write up the pattern to share with the guild. So now I have an excuse to go buy more yarn, since NONE of what I have is really suitable for taking pictures for illustrating the pattern. Like I really need an excuse to go buy more yarn. At least it'll only be one skein, since the neck ring takes almost an entire skein of Wool Ease. Yeah, I can justify right along with the best of them. ;-)

Smoke Ring beginning

Here's the next project I've started, a smoke ring from Heartstrings.

I'm using the JagerSpun yarn I showed previously. The yarn is finer than the designer used in her smoke ring, and I'm trying to decide if I like the lace weight or if I want to use a fingering-weight yarn instead. Opinions??

Moebius, again

A terrible picture, but here it is on me.
Hey, it's not easy to take a picture of yourself in the mirror.

I used almost an entire skein of Wool Ease or this project. I figured out the instructions that I posted a link to previously, including using a long-tail cast-on. Then I went in search of a garter-stitch-based lace edging and had the difficult task of choosing just one to use on this project. I'm pretty happy with the result!

Sweater Sampler

My DD has decided that my Sweater Sampler is HERS. She's put it around her neck, on her arm, and on her leg. She's also wrapped it around her stuffed bunny. Too funny! Here she is holding it up so you can see how big it really is. She's 41" tall, just for reference.
