Bonn doily

This is the first doily I've made from the batch of magazines and patterns that my Aunt Louise sent from Germany. I wanted to "cut my teeth" on a small doily, and I'm quite pleased with it. Start to finish it took about two weeks, although it sat for a few days before I got my act together enough to block it.

Here it is blocking with a million pins:

And here it is, finished! It's relaxing just a bit and the centers of the sides are pulling in just slightly, which is neat.

It's 20" from point to point, and I used size 10 cotton crochet thread with a 2.5mm Addi Turbo circular needle.

I can see more of these in my future--this was a great, fun, fast project.

That is a great pattern! I use to do lots of crochet dollies, but never found any knitted ones I liked! That one is great though! Good luck with the World Cup project!

Melanie, don't wait until you retire! That one took me less than two weeks, and that was only working on it a little each day.

It's a really lovely doily. How did you like working with cotton on addis?

I really liked the cotton/Addi combo. I had heard that cotton wasn't anywhere near as nice as wool to work with, but I didn't have any problems. In fact, I bought more cotton crochet thread to do more doilies....

That's very pretty! I might try doilies one day.

I'm also signed up for The Amazing Lace. I was late in picking my projects, though, so my Hanging Garden Stole pattern is still en route. Would it be possible for you to tell me the needle/yardage requirement and suggested gauge? I'm anxious to get started. Thanks in advance, and happy knitting!
